When ordering aggregates, understanding what quantities you need is extremely important. Too few aggregates can lead to additional deliveries, wasting time and money. On the other hand, too many aggregates can lead to wastage.
Aggregates are usually ordered in tonnes. The standard aggregate calculation is typically: Multiply the width, length and depth of your area.
It’s important to note that the depth of your area will vary depending on the aggregate type, its size variation, and the intended application.
As a simple guide, see below:
- 10mm aggregate will need a depth of 30-40mm, but on a driveway, this would need to be at least 50mm.
- 20mm aggregate would need a depth of at least 40-50mm, and at least 50-60mm on driveways.
